The thermal baths of the Forum were built in civic centre, in nord-west of forense area, in a space previously occupied by structures dated back to the republican period during the II century b.C. The building refers to the thermal baths of via Terracina in Naples and those of the Forum in Ostia. They were renovated in Imperial age , extended in the II century and they were partly neglected and partly reused in the V century. As the thermal baths of via Terracina in Naples, the structure was composed of two publics enters: the south one was on the road skirting the Capitolium, while the secondo one put in vestibulum. It was in connection through a colonnaded passage, with the frigidarium, that had two baths in cold water. To the left and right of the vestibulum there are two environments intended for activities preceding the real bath (changing room, massage room, unctions etc.). The hot rooms, exposed to south, respected the usual succession: from the tepidaria, similar to the frigidarium, but with lukewarm water, to the sudatio, an overheated room that caused the perspiration trough the steam, and to the caludarium, a space equipped with 3 baths for the hot springs. We can see clearly the praefurnium on the bottom of the wall. From here the heat spread into the various rooms through a customary system of cavities and of hypocausts. The water providing was ensured by a tank divided into four reservoirs. During a second phase (in the III century a.D.) some spaces were added ;they had service functions and others were assigned to the public, in the same time the building underwent a serious of restorations. The building should been richly decorated, as the many rests of covering demonstrate : slabs of marble, settings of porphyry, mosaics with black and white weaves, moulded clogs and painted plasters. The lighting was ensured by windows and skylights in the valuts. A part of the building lost its thermal function and it included vestibulum, the cold room and tank, and it was reused again as a house, an agricultural sore and barn. Back on the roman way, on the left there’s the Capitolium, the principal temple of the low city.
